In dem Berliner Stadtmagazin Zitty gibt es eine Comic-Kolumne namens Didi & Stulle. In der aktuellen Ausgabe argumentiert Didi, daß die Zeit in der Jugend recht langsam vergeht und mit zunehmendem Alter immer schneller:
"Und heute? Ein Weihnachtn tritt dit nächste inn Arsch ... Die Jahre zischn imma schnella an uns vorbei." Er führt das darauf zurück, daß das Leben so toll ist. Je glücklicher man ist, desto schneller vergeht die Zeit.

Er schlägt vor, das Leben zu entgeilen. Ich finde das ist ein ziemlich lustiger Gedanke.

Inequality is one of the major problems that society, civilization, and humankind is facing. By this I mean income and wealth being inhomogeneously distributed among people. Wealth is concentrated on very few people while the big majority is much less wealthy. It is important to mention that wealth also correlates with other factors like education and health. Uneven distribution is found on all scales, such as for the employees of a company, the inhabitants of a city, or the people of a country. Also among the countries such heterogeneity exists. Empirically, this finding was first described by Vilfredo Pareto already in the 19th century. The so called Pareto distribution is directly connected to the Gini coefficient which was designed by Corrado Gini in the beginning of the 20th century to measure the statistical dispersion of income and wealth. Zipf-law is a special case of the Pareto distribution.
To make a long story short, the point is that these kind of skewed distributions with very few large values are frequent in nature, technology, and society. They are said to be emergent. From a scientific point of view, one is still at the beginning to understand the processes leading to such inhomogeneous distributions. I would like to point out that task should not only be to understand but also to come up with mechanism to reduce or even avoid Pareto distributions in order to approach a more homogeneous and fair world.

I took this picture many years ago in Manaus. It shows the Colégio Dom Bosco (official link). It took me some time to figure out which building the picture shows, but thanks to the internet I finally found out. I liked the building although the cable in the front is a bit disturbing - but that's reality.
Of course there is also a story behind this image.

My mother used to buy second quality meat and cooked it with some healthy carrots for the dogs. Once, Knut, a classmate came to visit us. We checked the fridge and he found the food. He asked if he could eat it, not knowing whom it was meant for. I confirmed, why not? Finally, he ate the dog food and it seamed he liked it. Later, my mother wondered what happend to the food. But don't worry, the dogs did not have to starve.

At certain point Fuffi became pregnant and had puppies. The father was Schlappohr, another funny faithful street dog. We gave away most of the puppies and decided to keep one. It was grey and we called it Domino (quite elaborated name compared to Fuffi) - I don't need to mention how cute it was. Nevertheless, one morning we found it drowned in the pool. :(

Kürzlich ist die Ratsvorsitzende der Evangelischen Kirche Deutschlands dabei erwischt worden, wie sie mit 1,54 Promille bei Rot über die Ampel gefahren ist. Ich finde das ja in Ordnung - also nicht an sich, aber in diesem Fall. Zeigt es doch, daß die sogenannten Geistlichen auch nur Menschen sind. Menschen, die mal etwas trinken, Menschen, die auch Fehler machen. Und weil sie nur Menschen sind, sollte man ihnen auch nichts unmenschliches abverlangen, wie zB das Zölibat. Nichtsdestotrotz zeugt das betrunken Autofahren von Selbstüberschätzung und sie sollte sich die Frage "Ist eine wegen Trunkenheit vorbestrafte Kirchenvorsitzende tragbar?" selbst stellen.

Jetzt erhältlich: Alexander Eilers' erstaunliches Büchlein über einen viel beachteten Autor und seine verkannte Amerika-Tournee.

Klappentext: Oscar Wildes neunmonatige Vortragsreise durch die Vereinigsten Staaten und Kanada erwies sich als Sprungbrett für seine literarische Karriere. Hiervon handeln zahlreiche Biographien, die den Tourneeverlauf minutiös nachzeichnen. Daß die dargebotenen Reden jedoch den Wendepunkt in der Ästhetik des kontroversen Schönheitsapostels markieren, ist der Forschung bislang entgangen. Diese Lücke versucht das vorliegende Buch durch die inhaltliche Auseinandersetzung mit "The English Renaissance", "The Decorative Arts", "The House Beautiful" und "L'Envoi" zu schließen.

Who am I? A bad piece!
Wer bin ich? Ein schlechtes Stück!

Dies ist das Artwork zu dem Theaterstück, das wir 1995 (?) an unserer Schule inszeniert haben. Anders als in dem Jahr zuvor, schrieben wir das Stück selbst. Es war mit einem Episodenfilm vergleichbar, bei dem die Szenen mittels einer Art Rahmenhandlung zusammengehalten werden. Mark und ich schrieben eine Szene, in der drei Leute auf drei Leitern saßen (weil wir oben sind, oben waren und immer oben sein werden).
Die Umsetzung erfolgte in allerlei Arbeitsgruppen, die für die verschiedenen Bereiche zuständig waren, also Schreiben, Regie, Bühnenbild, Licht, Musik, usw. Herzlichen Dank an unsere Betreuer Barbara und Holger.

Ich habs ja nicht nicht geleesen, aber frage mich, ob ich als Normalsterblicher auch eine Selbstanzeige schalten kann, also nach dem Motto Fahnder vom Vollzug abhalten. Die Frage ist nur, was ich dafür bräuchte, zum Beispiel Kontoauszug oder so. Vielleicht geht es ja auch ohne Konto in der Schweiz. Was ist eigentlich der Mindestbetrag den man braucht, um ein schweizer Nummernkonto zu eröffnen?
Anderer Gedanke: Wenn man mit Bankdaten Geld machen kann, sollte Europa vielleicht überlegen, ob man sich die Swift-Daten, die nach Amerika gehen, nicht evtl. vergolden lassen kann.

Wie Christian richtig anmerkt, liegt die Datierung des Voynich-Manuskripts vor Gerolamo Cardano, einem Gelehrten aus der Renaissance. Das ist deshalb von Bedeutung, weil gezeigt wurde, daß mittels eines sogenannten Cardan-Gitters statistische Eigenschaften des Manuscripts reproduziert werden können. Man kann jedoch nicht zwingend davon ausgehen, daß ein solches Gitter vor Cardano nicht bekannt war.

Yesterday, the opening ceremony of the 21st olympic winter games took place. Who knows me knows that I am against quite a lot of things. Olympic games are one of these. My point is that the Olympic idea of overcoming national egoisms and of contributing to peace and international agreement became secondary. One should stop the holding the games and make a break for another 1500 years. Of course this is not possible, because they involve a lot of business. But this is already part of the problem: it is all about money, power, and doping.
