Mich erreichen Leserbriefe zu The Chair. Einen will ich hier wiedergeben.

I read your review of the Chair and while I understand your take on the overall genre limitations and certain formulaic solutions, I wonder if you are not missing some critical ? indeed, essential ? elements at stake here, namely, the centrality of women ? significantly, women of color or a woman who has been compromised / aged out of the academy (old prof) ? as engines of action, as central figures, as figures who 'fail' but take responsibility (in contrast to the male heroes who fail to comprehend their roles as public figures - young prof - or act harmfully - old profs). ... it would be extremely important to acknowledge the gender and race dimensions in the Chair because otherwise you risk sounding just like one of 'those guys' ..."
