Nouvelle Vague
diegolego, 15:01h

Yesterday I went with a friend to a concert by Nouvelle Vague. It was nice, I enjoyed it.
They cover songs such as Too Drunk to Fuck by Dead Kennedys. So the idea is to play Punk and New Wave songs in Bossa Nova style. Eisbär (grauzone) they played with even stronger french accent. Two famous songs: Love will tear us apart (Joy Division) and This Is Not A Love Song (PIL, read also).
The location was ok and not too crowded. The audience was quite heterogeneous, i.e. different styles and ages. In particular, it was much cooler than the one at cranberries concert. After the show we had the chance to speak to the band. So, in summary a complete success.
The only drawback was that the new album seems to break a bit with their style and seems to be less Bossa Nova. The guitarist said they were fed up with Bossa. However.
At the merchandise stand there was also Gaby Moreno who opened the show. I strongly lauded her performance and found the best words - although we only heard few last songs - that was funny.

easter eggs
diegolego, 11:45h

Funny things are happening. Yesterday I found that someone placed a bag of chocolate eggs in the basket of my bike which was locked close to the train station i.e. in the public. Either it was someone I know or some drunk people - or a combination.

listen-up

Yesterday I learned a funny trick from Iceland: At parties, when one cannot understand each other because of the loud music, one simply closes the dialogue partner's ear by gently pressing on it. It really works and communication is easier - beside the fact that one frequently has to touch the dialogue partner (how knows me, knows that I of course can't follow this practice, since usually I do not touch my counterpart).

reading
diegolego, 13:06h
During Christmas Holidays I saw Buddenbrooks in the television and I must confess that I was quite attired in the film. It is based on the novel by Thomas Mann who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1929. Of course I have never read the book. In school we discussed Death in Venice (which I found terrible). Now I plan to read Buddenbrooks when I am retired. The only question is whether I read it before or after The Lord of the Rings.
